Double entry

Day 14. Business cards

Waitetune to Waingaro.
Daily total: 33km Running total: 663km

Bluffing It now has proper business cards! A big thanks goes to Scott, the guy who runs the backpackers place called 'Scott's Place' in Waitetune!

The original business card

New and improved business card! Cheers Scott!

Headed back to Foxgloves to do some gardening for accommodation and to be somewhere nice for Christmas! There was a fear of spending Christmas day in field with a bottle of whiskey and talking to the birds. It was good to be stationary for Christmas.

Did notice how different animals have different status in different countries. Hedgehogs are a pest in NZ, with many programmes in place to remove them in order for the native wildlife to re-establish itself. So road kill hedgehogs are met with mixed emotions. On one hand, population control in action but on the other. Boo dead hedgehog!

Day 13. Hair toda...nope. Not even going to finish that.

Raglan to Waitetuna.
Daily total: 31km Running total: 630km Bike costs: $80

Something was said over the muffled tannoy system as it meekly made itself known to the campsite.

Glad to be leaving Raglan. It is such a chilled place that I could easily get sucked in. So leave before the roots take hold!

Got rid of the hair. Did find out that barbers practice with balloons when learning to use cut throat razors! Once they can run the blade over the balloon without popping it, they move on arm hair and leg hair before moving on to throats. Saw an ad for a backpackers in the barbers. No one knew anything about the place or how the ad appeared. The lore of the unknown and the promise of free ice cream and friendly dogs was too appealing (was there a lesson about that at school?). That is how I can across Scott's Place backpackers. It was way out in the bush. The problem was it kicked my long dormant hay fever in hyper action! Rendering all conversational skills in to series of sneezes. They could not be mustered into basic Morse code. Why does nature hate me?

Never did take the offer of free ice cream up...

Raglan.
