The real NZ is Germany?

Day 31. 4000km clocked!

Queenstown to Lake Mavora
Daily total: 63.82kRunning Total: 1814.25km

Big day! Hit the 4000km mark!

To get to Te Anau,I have decided to splash out and take the steamboat (you read that right, steamboat) across the lake to Walker Peak, the start/finish point of the Around the Mountains Trail. Whilst waiting for the steamboat, I met a German cyclist called Helmet. He would become my cycling buddy for the day.

My bike on the boat. Without these captions you would have no clue.

Yes Gavin, That is a boat. You just disembarked from it.

Once into the trail, the scenery becomes proper adventure scenery! Just a gravel road leading into the wilderness. Got to wade through a stream with the bike. Flanked by mountains, surrounded by scrub. Helmet commented on the lack of people about, how we are the only ones about for miles. Just as he finished saying that, two cyclists appear in the distance. Both German! Did met another cyclist earlier in the day who was also German. If you are ever thinking of heading to NZ, here is a top tip: learn German! Seriously, it will get you far and make you friends.

Adventure Gav. Go adventure Gav. Go own that stream!

No one around for miles...ah...

Lake Mavora was beautiful, as was the ride to it, riding through lush, moss covered forests which were littered with many different types of mushrooms.
